Q&A

Q1

Where is the location of LDCC?

A1

LDCC is on the 3rd floor of the Lourdes Hall.

Q2

What is the difference between the diagnostics and consulting?

A2

Diagnostics: in the first diagnostic meeting, the Adviser will analyze student’s learning styles and learning strategies; in the next diagnostic meeting, a tailor-made program will be designed based on student’s level of language proficiency: listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, etc.

Consulting: the Adviser helps students to solve encountered problems (including using the Learning Tools)

Q3

What are the Learning Tools? Without using them, can students still be helped?

A3

The Learning Tools are the learning courses. For students whose CSEPT grades are higher than 240, no Learning Tools are needed. However, self-learning programs can be arranged based on the Adviser’s suggestions.

The items of the Learning Tools include 1. Diagnostic and consulting meetings: oral practice, presentation practice, poetry read aloud practice, writing practice and reading practice; 2. Topic-based practice; 3. Self-learning software and supplementary materials.

Q4

Is a reservation required?

A4

Yes! An on-line reservation is required.

Q5

Why can’t I make a reservation for the service items?

A5

Please make sure that you are successfully registered in Dr. E-Learning (the personal basic data, learning style and learning strategies are all filled in.) Please click on HERE for the operation. If it still does not work, please call 07-342 6031 ext. 7402-7406.

Q6

If I am asked to go to the 2nd floor of the Lourdes Hall, should I go there directly?

A6

No! Please first come to sign-in on the 3rd floor (G326) and then go down to the 2nd floor. Please ask the Counter to give you the personal data bag and software record list for using the self-learning software that will record the use status and follow up schedule.

Q7

Why can’t I make a reservation with the Adviser/Tutor for oral practice or use the self-learning software?

A7

If you have not participated in the CSEPT or if your CSEPT grades are lower than 240, based on your needs, the Adviser can be reserved for the diagnostic meetings, and oral practice or you can use the self-learning software.

Q8

What are the topics of the oral practice?

A8

There are 16 topics in “Issues in English I & II” and 11 topics in “Conversation Topics and My ET”. (The software can be easily installed from the Information Service of the Office of Academic Affairs.)

Q9

Why is ELCC added separately behind the name of each Adviser or Tutor?

A9

The abbreviations: ELCC is the location for the diagnostic and consulting meetings.

If they are not added after the name of each Adviser or Tutor, it means that their location is in G326.

If ELCC is added, the location is on the 1st floor of the Lourdes Hall.
